Call me crazy, but I still hadn't tried a beauty sponge until Influenster sent me this package. I learned how to wear makeup using brushes and I just never tried anything different. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Wrong.
This year, I've learned that makeup is all about trying new things, both in the way you use products and in what products you use. It can help you find everyday items that work better than the ones you were so attached to, or push you out of your comfort zone in the looks you try.
Now, let's open up this box!

To start things off, Influenster sent me three sets of products to review:
6 original beautyblender egg-shaped sponges; available at Sephora for $20 each.
1 beautyblender blendercleanser solid; available at Sephora for $16.
1 beautyblender keep. it. clean set, which includes a cleaning mitt, liquid cleanser, and solid cleanser; available at Sephora for $20.
One thing that I loved about all of the products was that each individual item came with it's own instruction manual (tiny, circular ones in the sponge cups!) that had clear directions and images. That was definitely a big help for a newbie like me who didn't know what she was doing with any of these beauty tools.

For all the hype that the beautyblender gets, I do think it lived up to my expectations. A beautyblender can be used for all the liquid and cream makeup in your routine: concealer, foundation, contour, etc. I think the biggest difference between using one of these and using a brush is that the beautyblender gives your makeup a well-blended, seamless finish. In pictures, it makes my foundation look like it's just my natural skin. I think it's also really easy to learn how to use and there's a greater level of control for detail areas such as around your nose (especially when it comes to contour). I would say that the price tag does seem a little excessive. For 2-3 beautyblenders, you could just buy an entire brush set. But I guess the advantage is that this one tool can be used in multiple ways.

Although the beautyblender itself was fun to use, my favorite part of this box has to be the cleaning products. I feel like it takes a lot of time and work on my part to clean my brushes the way I like, but this cleaning mitt just made it so easy. The mitt has little bumps that really get the makeup out of your brush (or beautyblender) no matter how bad it looks (trust me, I used it to clean an abandoned brush that had been covered in foundation for weeks) and it's really easy to just grip with the little flaps. The keep.it.clean set came with a liquid cleanser and a solid bar soap. I honestly think the soaps could be substituted with any other brush cleaner or shampoo, but I will say that they did not leave a smell or take out any hairs from the brush. The soaps they sent are also much better for the beautyblender because alternatives can damage the integrity of the foam they're made from.
That set aside, I would say that the round blendercleanser solid box is definitely worth buying. Inside the box is soap and a small, circular version of the cleaning mitt. This thing makes my life so much easier when I'm going back and forth between my dorm and home or when I need to carry things into my dorm bathroom. It closes securely and you just need to have this one little box with you to clean your brushes. If you travel a lot, the blendercleanser solid is a must have.

Overall, these beautyblender products have made my life easier and have become part of my normal makeup routine. However, I think the beautyblenders themselves are not worth their price tag and there are definitely cheaper alternatives you can buy that accomplish the same task.
I hope you enjoyed this little beautyblender review. Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite beauty tool is!
