Quarantine Tea Time

It has been my mission the past few weeks to find little moments of happiness during this era of social distancing. It has been rough not being able to see my friends, having to cancel events, and being stuck at home. But the way through this is to make the most of it. I'm trying to still live a full life within the confines of self-quarantine and use what I have available to me at home to stay connected to the things and people I love. So with that in mind, my sister and I had a tea party!

Our little spread included a homemade yellow cake with chocolate frosting (we used this recipe and it turned out more like pound cake), cheese and crackers, fruit, and chai. It was nice to put in the extra effort to mix up our routine and do something special. We even used the nice china and decorated the table with flowers.
I really recommend planning something like this with your quarantine buddies or virtually with your friends so you can still have a little piece of that socialization we're all missing right now.

My favorite part of all of this was getting to dress up. It's really my favorite part of any day: waking up and opening up my closet, putting pieces together, adding accessories, and getting myself ready. Obviously, there was no where to actually go, but I had fun going through those motions and wearing something other than pajamas.
I went with a blue gingham dress that I made just a few months ago. I didn't use a pattern but I knew I wanted straps, a midi length, and well-placed darts. This dress is perfect for a light daytime occasion, paired with a white long sleeve shirt and a belt.

I added gold accessories to match the belt: a pearl chain bracelet and barrettes, both from Target. I wore my favorite staple scarf: the camel modal from Vela Scarves. It's double-width so you can fold it in half and wear it in one layer with minimal fuss.
This little tea party really helped us get out of our quarantine rut and have something to look forward to. It's really important that all of us stay home and maintain our positivity so we can get through the pandemic together.
